About Star Garage Mansfield, an Independent Garage in Mansfield Woodhouse
A family-run workshop on Warsop Road that finds the cause before it fits the part.
We started out as Lonestar Performance Tuning. Today we’re a full-service garage for repairs, servicing and diagnostics on all makes, with a specialism in Jaguar Land Rover Ingenium engines that brings drivers in from well outside Mansfield.
Our story
From Lonestar Performance Tuning to Star Garage Mansfield
Star Garage Mansfield began as Lonestar Performance Tuning, a remapping and tuning business. In 2024 we changed our name and widened what we do, so the same workshop now handles everyday servicing and repairs alongside the complex engine work we’d built our name on.
The tuning side never went away. We still remap ECUs on our own bench and supply professional tuning tools to other workshops. That background is why fault finding on modern diesels, where the answer is often in the software as much as the hardware, is where we’re most at home.
Over time one engine family has come to define the workshop: the Jaguar Land Rover Ingenium 2.0 diesel. Timing chains, turbo failures, piston cooling faults and full rebuilds are routine work here, and owners travel in for it.

How we work
Diagnosis First, Repair Second
Plenty of the cars we see have already had a part or two fitted without the fault going away. We work the other way round, whether it’s a warning light on a small hatchback or a rattling Ingenium.
About our diagnosticsWe find the cause
Proper testing with dealer-level diagnostic equipment, so the repair is aimed at the fault rather than the fault code.

We’ll talk you through it, and we often send photos or video of the fault so you can see it for yourself.
You get a written quote first
Diagnostic first, written quote second, work third. Nothing is fitted until you’ve agreed it.
You see the old parts
We keep the parts we take off, so you can see what failed.
Pricing
Why We Price Most Repairs on the Day
You won’t find a price list for most repairs on this site, and that’s deliberate. Parts prices move constantly, and suppliers can’t always get the same components from one week to the next, so a figure we published months ago wouldn’t mean much by the time you ring.
The exceptions are a handful of fixed-price timing chain jobs we do often enough to quote in advance. For everything else, call and describe the problem. We’ll tell you what’s involved, and you’ll have a written quote before any work starts.
