Car Servicing in Mansfield Woodhouse
Interim and full servicing on any make — and no, it doesn’t void your manufacturer’s warranty.
A service should be an inspection with an oil change attached, not the other way round. You get told what we found, what needs doing now, and what can wait until next time.
The question we get asked most
Servicing here does not void your warranty
This stops more people using an independent than anything else, and it hasn’t been true for a long time. Under the Motor Vehicle Agreements Block Exemption Order, in force since June 2023 and running to 2029, a manufacturer can’t make your warranty conditional on having routine servicing done at a franchised dealer.
What matters is that the service is done to the manufacturer’s schedule, with parts of matching quality, and properly recorded. All three are standard here.
The same rules give independent garages the right to the technical data and diagnostic access needed to work on modern vehicles — which is why we can service a car still inside its warranty period without you losing anything.
Still under a manufacturer warranty? Tell us when you book. We’ll work to the correct schedule for your vehicle and make sure the record is right, so there’s nothing for anyone to argue about later. The rules are set out in the CMA’s guidance on motor vehicle agreements.
Interim and full
What’s actually included
Servicing isn’t standardised across the industry, so “a service” means different things at different garages. Here’s what it means here.
Every six months or so
Engine oil and filter, and a full inspection — levels, lights, tyres and brakes checked, hoses and belts looked over, and anything developing flagged before it becomes the reason you’re back in.
Every twelve months or so
Everything in the interim, plus air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter where fitted, and a deeper look at suspension, steering, exhaust and the underside.
Manufacturer service plans
Many modern cars have variable intervals set by the car itself rather than fixed mileage. We follow the schedule your vehicle actually calls for.
Items on their own cycle
Brake fluid, coolant, spark plugs, timing belts and gearbox oil all run to their own intervals. We tell you when one is due rather than quietly skipping it.
If a service turns up something bigger, it goes through diagnostics before we quote — we don’t guess at parts on the strength of a symptom.
What a service is for
The oil change is the cheap part. The inspection is the point.
Most of the expensive jobs that come through here were visible months earlier — a weeping hose, a lipped disc, a chain that was already noisy on a cold start. Nobody was looking, so nobody caught it.
That’s the actual value of a service. The oil matters, but what matters more is somebody competent having the car up on a ramp with the wheels off, looking at the things you can’t see from the driver’s seat.
Service history
Your record, kept properly
Every service is recorded and the book stamped, or the digital record updated where your vehicle uses one. That record is what protects the car’s value when you sell it, and what a manufacturer will ask to see if there’s ever a warranty claim.
If you’ve bought a car with gaps in its history, bring it in. We can’t fill in the past, but we can establish where it actually stands now and start a clean record from there.
Makes we service most
Ford, Vauxhall, Renault, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes, Peugeot, Citroën, Volkswagen, Audi, Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover — JLR being our specialism. Being independent means we aren’t limited to one badge.
Also worth a look: general repairs, brake repairs and timing belts and chains.
How long does it take?
An interim service is usually a few hours and a full service most of a day, depending on what the inspection turns up. If we find something that needs a decision from you, we’ll ring rather than press on.
When is mine due?
Check the service book, the sticker in the windscreen, or the vehicle’s own service indicator. If you’re not sure, give us the registration and we’ll help you work it out.
Reviews
Servicing, in their words
Peugeot 3008 · full service & belt
I asked them to replace the timing belt and water pump, and to carry out a full service on the car. Everything I requested was done, and all work was completed within the agreed timeframe. Any changes or additional costs were discussed and approved beforehand.

Ford Focus ST3 · after the main dealer
Taken my Focus ST3 to Ford main dealer, they were useless, couldn’t sort my problem out. These guys sorted the problem out same day and it’s running great. I will be going here in the future with all my servicing.

Mercedes ML300 · long-running fault
I had been having multiple issues with my Mercedes ML300 for a number of months. The root causes were diagnosed, following which a full and detailed explanation and resolution plan was provided. Top class from start to finish.

Questions
Servicing questions we get asked
Will servicing here affect my manufacturer’s warranty?
No. Since June 2023 the Motor Vehicle Agreements Block Exemption Order has stopped manufacturers making warranty cover conditional on using a franchised dealer for routine servicing, provided the work follows the correct schedule and uses matching quality parts.
How long does a service take?
An interim is usually a few hours, a full service most of a day. It depends on what the inspection finds — and if it finds something, you get a call before anything extra is done.
Interim or full — which do I need?
It depends on mileage, how the car is used and when it was last done. Tell us the registration and roughly what it does in a year and we’ll tell you which is sensible.
Do you stamp the service book?
Yes, and we update the digital record where the vehicle uses one instead.
Do you do MOT tests as well?
No, we’re not a testing station. We do repair MOT failures for cars that have failed elsewhere.
My car has a gap in its service history — is that a problem?
It affects resale value more than anything mechanical. Bring it in, we’ll establish where it stands and start a proper record from now.
