AdBlue Repairs & Diagnostics in Mansfield
Warning on the dash, a countdown to no-start, or a system that keeps throwing faults after somebody else has already “fixed” it.
Injectors, pumps, tanks, heaters and NOx sensors — diagnosed properly and repaired, on cars, vans and light commercials. If your car is counting down to a no-start, call rather than book online.
Urgent
If your car is counting down, don’t leave it
An AdBlue fault doesn’t just put a light on. Once the system decides it can’t dose correctly, the car works through a sequence that ends with it refusing to start — and it will do that wherever you happen to have parked.
Warning appears
A message about AdBlue quality, level or the emissions system. At this point the car drives normally and it’s cheapest to deal with.
Restart countdown
The dash starts telling you how many starts you have left, often counting down from a few hundred miles or a set number of restarts.
Reduced power
Many vehicles cut power or limit speed before the final stage, as a last prompt to get it looked at.
No start
The engine won’t crank until the fault is cleared. Recovering a car from this point costs more than fixing it at stage one.
Topping up the tank doesn’t clear a fault. If the warning is caused by a failed injector, pump or sensor rather than a low level, adding fluid changes nothing and the countdown carries on.
Repairs
What actually fails on an AdBlue system
The warning is the same whichever component has gone. Telling them apart is the job.
AdBlue injector
Crystallised, blocked or electrically failed. The most common single failure, and the one most often replaced without being tested first.
Injector failure symptomsPump & delivery module
Pressure faults, seized pumps and blocked lines. Often shows as a dosing fault rather than anything obviously pump-related.
Tank, heater & level sender
Cracked or leaking tanks, failed tank heaters that leave the fluid frozen in winter, and senders reporting the wrong level.
NOx & quality sensors
Expensive to replace and frequently condemned wrongly. We test before we quote, because a NOx sensor fault is often a symptom of something upstream.
Crystallisation
AdBlue crystallises where it leaks or where dosing is wrong, blocking the injector and coating the exhaust. Cleaning it is only half the job.
Software & stored faults
Counters and stored codes sometimes need resetting correctly after a repair, or the car keeps behaving as though the fault is still present.
Emissions faults rarely stay in one system. If yours arrived with a DPF light too, see DPF cleaning and car diagnostics.
Deletes and removals
AdBlue deletes: off-road and motorsport vehicles only
We’re asked about this constantly, so here is the straight answer rather than a sales pitch.
Removing or disabling the AdBlue system on a vehicle used on the road is an offence. It means the vehicle no longer meets the emissions standard it was approved to, DVSA enforces this through roadside checks and its market surveillance work, and drivers can be fined and have the vehicle taken off the road.
We will discuss deletes for genuinely off-road and motorsport vehicles only. For anything driven on the road, the answer is repair — and in almost every case the repair is the cheaper outcome anyway, because a working system doesn’t strand you or fail a test.

Emissions faults, sorted
Skoda Octavia vRS · EGR fault
My Skoda Octavia vRS developed an EGR fault, as my local garage refused to have anything to do with it. Luckily they could squeeze me in there and then, fault identified and fixed. Great service at a really reasonable price.

Peugeot 5008 · emissions & engine faults
They sorted my emission and engine fault issues… all on my Peugeot 5008, and gave me some good maintenance tips. They know their stuff, well informed, experienced and fabulously efficient. They did it all in no time and exceeded my expectations.

DPF, then a turbo fault
Blaise personally called me to explain the situation in detail, talking me through every available option… he even sent photos of the diagnostics and faults that had been identified. That level of transparency and honesty was incredibly reassuring.

Questions
AdBlue questions we get asked
My car says no start in 400 miles — how long have I got?
Less than you’d like. The countdown doesn’t reset by topping up if the cause is a component fault. Ring us and we’ll tell you whether to drive it in or leave it.
I topped it up and the light is still on. Why?
Because the warning wasn’t about the level. A quality sensor, injector or dosing fault produces a similar message, and only clears when the actual fault is fixed.
Do you offer AdBlue delete?
For genuinely off-road and motorsport vehicles only. Removing the system from a road-going vehicle is an offence and we won’t do it.
Can it be repaired, or is it always a whole new system?
Almost always repaired at component level. Whole-system replacement is rare and usually only after damage rather than a fault.
Why does it always go wrong in winter?
AdBlue freezes at around minus eleven degrees, so vehicles rely on a tank heater. When the heater fails, the fault shows up on the first properly cold morning.
Do you work on vans and light commercials?
Yes, and a good share of AdBlue work here is vans. Short local runs are hard on the whole emissions system, not just the DPF.
